In cooperation with the Ayrton Senna Institute and artist Ian Berry United Art Solutions proudly presents this exclusive limited edition of the iconic Ayrton Senna Portrait.
Commemorating the 20th year since Senna’s passing, British artist Ian Berry collaborated with the Ayrton Senna Institute to reveal a unique portrait crafted entirely of denim jeans. The iconic work of art has been made using jeans from Ayrton Senna’s family. They gave them to Berry to create the portrait so he could intertwine the family into the piece of their beloved Ayrton that also celebrates the work they do with the Institute.
The portrait was made for the benefit of the Institutes great charitable work with the proceeds to be donated to the Ayrton Senna Institute, a charitable organization to create opportunities for human development to children and young Brazilians.
While the family had donated their jeans, and were fully behind the project, it was not until seeing the finished article that everyone realized that this was something out of the ordinary. After tears, memories and amazement there was also a feeling of sadness that the work would potentially disappear into someone’s private collection. The desire was that as many people as possible would able to see it up close.
Thus everyone agreed that the portrait would be shared with the world, and not be hidden. It was therefore decided that instead of being auctioned to the highest bidder the original should be donated to Ayrton’s mother Dona Neyde and the Institute. In 2015 it has been on tour around the world, and has been viewed by thousands of people.
For this unique portrait the Ayrton Senna Institute, the Artist and United Art Solutions developed a very special technique to print on to denim to make a limited edition run of eleven full size scale copies (122 com x 160 cm) of the original Portrait Ayrton Senna Sempre. Each one will mark a year in the 11 seasons of Ayrton’s F1 career, intertwined with personal quotes of his family to make the “11” special and unique.
The artist will make every one original. These will be sold and presented during the next month’s. Each of the 11 editions comes in an art box, and includes a Denim book on the project, a book about the artist, a commemorative plaque and a ‘making of’ DVD.
Ayrton was a man of the people, and his legacy is still so strong today. Therefore a smaller edition of 1960 copies – the year of Ayrton’s birth – has also been created, at a size of 72 cm x 93 cm including denim frame. Many months were spent developing the technique to create a museum quality print onto denim, which is stitched at the corners and held together with metal rivets and created with an attention to detail not unlike Ayrton’s own ethos.
This Art Edition is issued worldwide and limited to 1960 pieces at a price of 1960 Euro’s. Part of the proceeds will go to the Ayrton Senna Institute.
“1960” the year Ayrton Senna was born.
