1. Push past your limits

“On a given day, a given circumstance, you think you have a limit. And you then go for this limit and you touch this limit, and you think, ‘Okay, this is the limit.’ As soon as you touch this limit, something happens and you suddenly can go a little bit further. With your mind power, your determination, your instinct, and the experience as well, you can fly very high.”

Don’t think you have limits. When you get close to the limit… push even further. Fly high, there is no glass ceiling.

2. Focus and improve

“I believe in the ability of focusing strongly in something, then you are able to extract even more out of it. It’s been like this all my life, and it’s been only a question of improving it, and learning more and more and there is almost no end. As you go through you just keep finding more and more. It’s very interesting, it’s fascinating.”

The more you focus, the more you can extract out of your life and work. Never stop learning, and find more and more. Do it from fun and curiosity, like a child.

3. Desire for victory in your own life

“I’m very privileged. I’ve always had a very good life. But everything that I’ve gotten out of life was obtained through dedication and a tremendous desire to achieve my goals… a great desire for victory, meaning victory in life, not as a driver. To all of you who have experienced this or are searching now, let me say that whoever you may be in your life, whether you’re at the highest or most modest level, you must show great strength and determination and do everything with love and a deep belief in God. One day, you’ll achieve your aim and you’ll be successful.”

4. Make hard work your idol

“I have no idols. I admire work, dedication and competence.”

5. Give back

“Wealthy men can’t live in an island that is encircled by poverty. We all breathe the same air. We must give a chance to everyone, at least a basic chance.”

Ayrton Senna in Monaco 1990

Senna gave about $400 million (quietly) to poor kids in Brazil. He put his money where his mouth is.

6. Self-discovery

“The harder I push, the more I find within myself. I am always looking for the next step, a different world to go into, areas where I have not been before. It’s lonely driving a Grand Prix car, but very absorbing. I have experienced new sensations, and I want more. That is my excitement, my motivation.”

Senna was like a modern day Jesus (in terms of giving back), but also a ruthless racer, who wanted to win above all else. Yet, he still promoted innovations to make formula 1 racing more safe.

Ultimately, I love Senna for his dedication to giving back, his quest of ruthless self-improvement, taking risks, and extracting the fullest potential from him, from focus, hard work, and dedication.

Thank you SENNA
